Arranging an assessment
Outpatient appointments are booked through the hospital on the numbers below; international patients can ask for Michael Yu. Bring photographs of yourself from five and ten years ago if you have them, because they show where your tissue used to sit and are more useful than any description. Bring a written list of what bothers you and what you would refuse.
What a good assessment includes
An examination of the face at rest and in movement, an assessment of skin quality and elasticity, a judgement about how much of the change is descent and how much is volume loss, and a clear statement about which of those a lift would address. You should leave able to say what the operation would change, what it would not, and what the alternatives are for the parts it cannot.
Asking about the plan
Ask which plane will be dissected and why, where the incisions will sit, whether the neck is included, whether anything is being added such as fat, and what recovery will look like week by week. Ask what would make this the wrong operation for you. A surgeon who answers that last question specifically is assessing you rather than presenting to you.
Before you commit
No decision needs to be made at the first appointment. Take the plan away, read it against the guides on this site, and come back with questions. A discount that expires, or pressure to book before an assessment is complete, is information about the clinic rather than about your face.
